Day 19 - Favorite Ship
This one!

Although, I thought this one was quite striking as well:

Seriously, this was an easy day!
Wait, what...? They don't mean spaceship? Ohhhh. Relationship.
Well, you guys already know I'm a Doctor/Rose shipper, but you know who's been beating those two crazy kids out lately? These two:

The half-human Doctor/Rose.
I really wish they could make a tv show out of how these two make it work. It could be a really cool blend of the fantastic and the mundane, which is how I see their relationship going. I firmly believe that TenII would see this as an opportunity to have an adventure his fully Time Lord self could never have and that he would embrace it fully. I think that experiencing human life through TenII's eyes would allow us to see the fantastic in the mundane.
The reason I think that the Doctor would embrace this human life comes from this line in "Father's Day."
He sounds like he wants to have a life like that, though. This is why I have a soft spot for Pete's World fics.

THE DOCTOR: I've traveled to all sorts of places. Done things you couldn't even imagine, but... you two... street corner. Two in the morning. Getting a taxi home. I've never had a life like that.

Date: 2011-03-31 02:29 pm (UTC)Oh my, you actually cracked a smile from me. I loved your "wait, which ship?" moment. :)
Agree with both. I know there's a lot of hate/confusion/angst/annoyance about the end of JE and how the Doctor/Rose were left off but I agree that it would have been a great adventure for the two of them. The Doctor had been wanting to have a "normal" life since Nine (perhaps Eight, from the little of what I've read) and when there's finally a chance for one bit of Ten to live that life...well... The whole thing just gets me, the dynamic of Ten and Ten2, with Rose in the middle. Yeah...must finish some plots bunnies on those threads.
I also balk at the people who think a relationship like this wouldn't work because Ten2 is not, technically, the Doctor. My answer: rubbish. For anyone who's been in a relationship knows you need to change with the relationship if you want to keep it and, in the end, I believe that the two of them, Rose and Ten2, would have changed to fit each other better than perhaps the real Doctor and Rose ever could have. *shrug* Just my two cents.
(Plus, I love his hair!)

Date: 2011-03-31 02:36 pm (UTC)I agree completely. Rose makes her viewpoint perfectly clear in season 1. "it was a better life. And I - I don't mean all the traveling and... seeing aliens and spaceships and things - that don't matter." Given the choice between the traveling and the Doctor, she'll choose the Doctor every time.
And I think that TenII is as much the Doctor as the Doctor is the Doctor. Oh, that was a fun sentence!
That is some really great hair.

Date: 2011-03-31 02:47 pm (UTC)Theoretically, Ten2 is supposed to have traits from Donna (where his human DNA comes from) and that would have been the tie-breaker but it still doesn't work out in my head. He really is the Doctor (and this is where I do think that Ten was more than slightly jealous of his counterpart; the look in his eyes at the end of that beach scene is haunting), plus, if Rose still wanted the aliens and the adventure, she still has her own Torchwood to work for. (I'd rather have them work at Torchwood as an agent-couple for a few years before just settling down and retiring, traveling their new world and/or space with the newly grown TARDIS. Wouldn't that be nice? *plot bunny appears* GO AWAY! I can't handle any more of you. *it hangs on to me* ...I'll put you with the other plot bunnies, ok? *pats plot bunny)
Rose just wants the Doctor. End of discussion.
Really great hair.

Date: 2011-03-31 03:05 pm (UTC)When Nine regenerated into Ten, he picked up some of Rose's speech patterns because she was the one standing there when he regenerated. I kind of consider TenII's, um, generation(?) as something similar. His human DNA came from her, but the mannerisms he picked up from her were from the generation process in much the same way Ten's mannerisms came from Rose even though there was no DNA exchange. The DNA creates the human body, but his experiences create his personality.
That's how I see it, anyway. :)
I read a cool fic a while back where Rose brings the TARDIS from Donna's pocket universe back with her to Pete's World and the Doctor uses the baby coral to bring it back to life. I loved that idea.

Date: 2011-03-31 03:11 pm (UTC)Who's "her" here? I feel like you're talking about Donna, as she was there when Ten2 "generated", but you were talking of Rose. *is confused*
But, if I think I see what you're saying, I never really thought that much of Donna rubbed off on Ten2. He's the Doctor. (Yes, I know we both agree, but I think we need to say it more often so that fandom hears us. :D)
You have seen the deleted scene about the TARDIS coral, right?

Date: 2011-03-31 03:17 pm (UTC)I saw that deleted scene. I kind of wish it was left in, but I understand why they cut it.
TenII is the Doctor! And he has great hair! :D

Date: 2011-03-31 04:19 pm (UTC)*GASP of SHOCK and HORROR*
I'm glad that the Tardis Coral scene was cut. For me it opens up too many problems. Example, how is the coral to grow without the Eye of Harmony? Does Pete's world have it's own version? Is the energy correct? Can Ten2 actually cobble something together to fix the difference in universal energy? How long will it take for a new TARDIS to grow? What will happen to it when Ten2 and Rose die? Will it be passed on to their children (if they have any)? Tony? Will it even respond properly to a human driver? I could go on and on about that.
This is not to say that I don't like or don't read fics that give Ten2 and Rose a baby TARDIS. I just do my best to ignore the screaming questions in my head. But I just can't see it working for them.

Date: 2011-03-31 04:31 pm (UTC)I don't actually know much about the Eye of Harmony or what goes into growing baby TARDISes, so part of the fun in reading Pete's World fics is seeing how different authors think it's done.
I have to say, though, that I also worry about what will happen to the baby TARDIS when Rose and TenII die, for exactly the reasons you state.
