Doctor visit!
Dec. 15th, 2008 07:33 amI went to my 1 month checkup on Saturday morning. My doctor was surprised and pleased with my progress and my blood was taken to test my enzyme levels and make sure my organs are all still working properly. I asked him about breaking the fast for Christmas. He doesn't fully support the idea. He told me I could eat normal food "because it's Christmas," but that I shouldn't go crazy with the cookies, pies, and baklava. So I'm moderately disappointed, but I'm still planning on having small servings potatoes, stuffing, and at least a slice of pie (though maybe not a dozen cookies and half a pan of baklava).
I was the first patient to arrive at the Doctor's office on Saturday morning (it was a 7:15 a.m. appointment) and, though the door was unlocked, all the lights were off. Which was odd enough, but standing in a circle in the waiting room were all the doctors chatting in the dark. I entered and one of them said, "Well, Gentlemen, thank you for joining me this morning," and they all dispersed. I walked up to the counter where the receptionists were sitting (in the dark) and said I felt bad for breaking up the party. One of the women behind the counter said, "Nah, don't worry about it. They were doing that when I got here this morning and it freaked me out too."
Which reminds me of something else that I meant to write about months and months ago, but kept forgetting. Back in May, at the MCR concert, we were in between sets so everyone was just kind of standing around, but packed close together because one band had just finished. They were piping in music through the huge speakers. It was mostly indie rock and old-school punk. Then "Mr. Brightside" started. One guy shouts, "FINALLY!" and every single person (no joke) started singing along to the piped in music at the top of their lungs. The guy in front of me wearing a Black Parade uniform turned to his friend, shrugged his shoulders and started singing along too. I don't know the words to the song, so I just watched the people around me and felt odd.
