Those of you who are friends of mine on Facebook may have read that my friend Marsha passed away last week. Marsha was Dominic's babysitter until he was 14 months old. She was diagnosed with breast cancer that had metastasized to her lungs and bones. We kept in touch over the past couple years. Aside from the gratitude I felt for her taking such good care of my son, I genuinely liked her and enjoyed visiting. Her daughter called me last Thursday to deliver the news.

Justin and I attended her funeral today. I haven't been to many funerals and it's been a solid 15 years since the last one I attended. It was small, and very lovely. I was happy to see that it was attended by other parents of kids Marsha had watched. Watching children was a huge part of her life and I was glad that at the funeral I was given a glimpse into other aspects of her life as well.

I've been walking around with a lump in my throat all day, but it wasn't until we walked away from the gravesite that it really hit me that she was gone. I'll miss her.
