Dominic's vocabulary is growing. He now walks around saying "Doggy? Doggy?" and "Puppy? Puppy?" His nana knows I won't get him a pet until he's old enough to ask for one and I think she's teaching him this stuff. I want a kitty. :(

He loves to draw now. He likes to climb into a chair at the kitchen table and scribble away with his colored pencils. When I make dinner I put him into his high chair and push him up to the table, but he gets so angry at me when I move him. Two nights ago I was trying to strap him into his chair and he's screaming his head off, then Justin hands him a pencil and in between shrieks Dominic yells "THANK YOU!" then keeps on screaming.

I agree -- go for a kitty! Of course, I only had daughters, so maybe a doggy is better for a little boy. Is that just the sexist society speaking through me???

I wonder why we think dogs are for boys and cats are for girls. Maybe it's because we expect boys to be rough and tumble and dogs are better for that than cats.

After Sabby died I asked Justin if we could get another cat. He agreed. So I asked him if we could have a dog and a cat. He agreed. So I asked him if we could have a dog and two cats. I guess fresh grief only gets you so far.
