Dominic's vocabulary is growing. He now walks around saying "Doggy? Doggy?" and "Puppy? Puppy?" His nana knows I won't get him a pet until he's old enough to ask for one and I think she's teaching him this stuff. I want a kitty. :(

He loves to draw now. He likes to climb into a chair at the kitchen table and scribble away with his colored pencils. When I make dinner I put him into his high chair and push him up to the table, but he gets so angry at me when I move him. Two nights ago I was trying to strap him into his chair and he's screaming his head off, then Justin hands him a pencil and in between shrieks Dominic yells "THANK YOU!" then keeps on screaming.

I agree -- go for a kitty! Of course, I only had daughters, so maybe a doggy is better for a little boy. Is that just the sexist society speaking through me???

Good for boys and girls

I am obsessed with pugs. They are cat sized but have the personality of a dog that little kids need. Also, my nieces will pull their pug's ears, grab her by the tail, lift her up under the legs and she never bites or nips at them. Even if she tried her mouth is so tiny she wouldn't do any damage. I also watched that dog get chased by 4 kids ages 4-2 for half an hour before everyone got run down.

Plus, they have short hair so it's no worse than vaccuuming up after a cat.
