Hmm...I hope that works. If not, check out Ohio.com input Canton and look for houses under $80K. You'll see what I'm talking about. You can get huge amounts of house for not much money. But keep in mind that Canton is the community that repaved the roads George W. Bush was to ride on when he came to visit while allowing homes to literally crumble just a block away. Nope, no problems there. :)

The condos that we were looking at were in the fall were $159,000-$180,000. I'm envious of the prices, but not the location.

Some of the other houses seemed to be more modernized, but didn't have as many bedrooms and bathrooms.

I just love the look of the place. You might be surprised at how hard it is to find homes that already have central air. You remember how hot it got here.

I also did a little job hunt in the Seattle area and it seems I could get paid over twice as much for the same job in that area. So I guess prices vs. compensation work out about even.

*This* one was actually the one I was referring to when I meant the modernization. I looked at the first one and wasn't that impressed. But this one stuck out in my mind as being nice, affordable and having any ammenity that you could want from a first time home. It's a great find.

I sincerely hope you have better luck than we've had. We've been looking for a house for an entire year. :) We're a little spoiled though because we don't want a house that's got fewer square footage or bathrooms than our manufactured home, but it seems to get a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house with a basement is typically over our price range where we live. :(

Yeah the market out here in the LA area is ludicrus... 400k MIGHT get you a nice place in the valley... other wise forget it for 350 you get a shack or the stix. your call /shudder...
