Christmas entry

Christmas was pretty nice. I got Justin tickets to see Hairspray and various stocking stuffers including a new hat and gloves (his real present was an exercise bike I gave to him back in September). He got me a Whitman's Sampler and the all steel construction, 6-quart Kitchenaid Stand Mixer (dubbed "The Big Pig"). That thing will make 13 dozen chocolate chip cookies in one batch! For dinner I made pan-seared pork loin and smashed potatoes. We had cookies and milk for dessert. Dad called from Taiwan (drunk, as usual) and asked me to write a letter of condolence to Li Hua because her mom died four days ago. I'm not generally in the practice of writing condolence letters to people I've never met, but I think I'll make an exception in her case. Mom called me from Amanda's house where most of my family was celebrating Christmas. I got to talk to most of my siblings then. Aaron and Elizabeth had already left for Elizabeth's parents' house and Tony and his family were celebrating in Idaho, so I didn't get to talk to them. Mom finally got a job. It's full-time during tax season, then part time afterwards. If all goes well, it'll go back to full time. Keep your fingers crossed. I think a job is a good way for mom to get back some of her self-esteem. It can only be a good thing.
I love my new mixer, but I was really hoping for the electric piano we saw at Best Buy. I might splurge and get it for myself. I desperately miss playing my piano.
