More about the Muse show

What can I say? I love this band!
The show opened with "The Second Law: Unsustainable" and closed with "The Second Law: Isolated System," neither of which I thought were particularly good before I saw the concert. They've really grown on me since Tuesday, though, and I really like how they sandwiched the show between them. What got my attention during the show was the video they showed while playing "Isolated System." I don't know the details of what's going on, but I find it highly emotional and vaguely terrifying. I'd hoped to find it on Youtube because I haven't been able to stop thinking about it, and here it is! In my opinion, the live show was better because they synced the climax of the music and the climax of the video and it just worked better. But I still love it in sort of the same way that I love Doomsday or The Body.
Having said that last sentence, you'll probably never watch it... :)

That vid is disturbing, but in a good way. The bleakness sort of reminds me of that MIA vid that was controversial a while back, but I'm not sure why.

Date: 2013-03-09 08:53 pm (UTC)It's ok. It's no Absolution. But is it fair for me to compare it like that? They've definitely progressed and their sound has changed a bit. They've incorporated dubstep into their music with (imo) good results. It's called The 2nd Law: Unsustainable and is a first part of the video I posted above. But the album did not grab me. In fact, even after watching the show, I still don't love the whole thing. And that's unusual for me. After listening to it all the way through, I felt it was a bit too preachy and took itself too seriously. There are some kick-ass songs on the album, though, and it's worth checking out if you've liked their previous albums.
Now, for their live show: GO SEE THEM LIVE. I cannot stress this enough. They are, hands-down, no exception, the *best* live act I have ever seen. And I'm not alone with that opinion. I just read an article that called them the most exciting live act of all time and I think they deserve the distinction. They are *incredible*. They sound amazing and their shows are highly entertaining. I don't know that The 2nd Law tour is as well put together as The Resistance tour, but I saw The Resistance after they'd been on tour for a long while and it was extremely polished. The 2nd Law is still fairly new and their segues weren't nearly as smooth. I imagine it will get better.
