My Little Graduate
May. 23rd, 2011 06:10 pmDominic graduated from pre-school today. The school had a cute little graduation ceremony where all the kids sang songs and then got diplomas. They announced what each child wanted to be when he or she grew up. My favorite one was the little boy who wanted to be Jack Sparrow. The teachers also made scrapbooks of all the activities the kids participated in this past year for each of the parents. They included a picture they took of Justin and me dropping Dominic off on his first day. It is the best family picture we've had taken and I want to blow it up and frame it.
To celebrate the end of Dominic's school year, we took him to Chuck E. Cheese. We meant for it to be a surprise. He knew we weren't going home, so we told him we were taking him to the Broccoli Museum. We told him there would be free samples. For the record, he doesn't believe anything we say anymore.
We got pizza, drinks, and 80 tokens and played games for two hours. Justin showed Dominic how to play skeeball and then we dodged ricocheting balls for several minutes. I won the jackpot on a silly game where all you do is press a button. Dominic was happy regardless of how many tickets the machines spit out. Once, Chuck E. tossed a bunch of tickets over Dominic's head for fun. We ended up with 389 tickets total and traded them in for a top, a temporary tattoo, some markers, and an inflatable sword.
Justin and I both took the day off work to spend it with Dominic. I have to go to work tomorrow, but my brain insists that I'm on vacation, which will make the remainder of this week pretty much unbearable. However, I'm taking Friday off for the pre-school picnic (I have no idea why they held graduation when there are still two more days to go) and then we've got Monday off work as well. A three day weekend followed by a three day workweek followed by a four day weekend is not bad at all.

enjoy your wonderful weekend.
