The other day, after Dominic went to bed, Justin pulled what looked like a crumpled piece of paper out of Dominic's school bag. Dominic had told him that it was "just a drawing for Emily." It wasn't a crumpled piece of paper. It was a piece of blue construction paper that had been carefully folded around a small square of white paper on which Dominic had drawn a perfect red heart.
On Sunday, Dominic asked, "Can you give our address to Emily's parents so she can come play with me?" After a beat, he continued, "There's only one rule. Whatever she plays with, she has to put away. But... would you give our address to her parents?"
He was so blasé about it, but I can't help but do the stupid parent thing and go, "Awww! That's so cute! You like her so much!" Not out loud, of course. I don't want to embarrass the kid. But here I don't care. That's friggin' cute.
