Oct. 9th, 2003 09:47 amI suspect that Bliss is trying to make my position obsolete. When she first got hired she asked me what my job was and when I told her she said, "Oh, so you do what I want to do."
"Aaah," I thought, "I will not tell you about my job, then."
So after a few months she was promoted to "marketing manager" and is now looking into outsourcing web design projects. Ed is livid. I'm bewildered. Why would you outsource web design when my hourly pay is less than most web designer's hourly fee. Plus, I'm really good! I'm sorry, that sounds conceited, but my work is not shabby.
When Ed found out, he went to Bliss and asked her why she was checking out web design firms, but she waffled and wouldn't tell him anything much. So he dug into it on his own. Which drew criticism from Alane (VP of HR and Bliss' boss); doesn't Ed have better things to do with his time than check into Bliss' work. To which Ed replied, and I'm paraphrasing, "When it comes to things that should be in my department, I absolutely have time."
Bliss has been on my short list for a while. She's just been moved to the top.
