I went to Borders yesterday because Justin wanted to find another copy of a Robert Jordan book Sabby had ruined. I took a look around the music section and noticed that They Might Be Giants has another album out. "No." I didn't buy it. I realize now that the age of TMBG is over for me. I no longer consider myself a "fan."

I was tempted by the Royksopp and Basement Jaxx CDs I saw, though.

Damn. You can get No! for $13 in Manhattan.

I know Mink Car is really unpopular among many fans, but I liked it. I listen to it as the John's attempt at making a "modern rock" record, and as much as I should hate the idea, I end up enjoying the record all the same. (That being said, I think Ween does the "skewed version of modern rock" much better, probably because they like the stuff. I get the impression the Johns' prefer listening to 50's and 60's pop rather than anything new).

I don't buy new CDs at all. Half.com has much better deals, even figuring shipping. Amazon has a similar second-hand program.

Not that I buy a lot of CDs anyway. But I never buy them full price.

Gigantic!

I just found something extremely special at Hastings yesterday. A movie about TMBG called "Gigantic". It is an all-encompassing look at the lives of the Johns. The critics seem to think it's one of the best, most unique documentaries ever - plus it has 4 and a half hours of special features. I haven't gotten it yet, but I sense it being my last great feat of TMBG fan-ness.(Besides "No!") I'm sure you'll find it at borders.
