I love FMM. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! I love it a ridiculous amount. I love it more than Fandom Secrets. I love it more than... well, I don't know, but I love it an awful lot.
I got into FMM late last year, so this is the first time I've been in it since the beginning. I'm really excited to see the number of female characters winning representation for their show.
Female characters I love that are currently in the lead:
Liz Lemon (30 Rock)
Lana Kane (Archer)
Lucille Bluth (Arrested Development)
Tami Taylor (Friday Night Lights)
Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)
Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)
Alice Cullen (Twilight)
Constance Langdon (American Horror Story)
Starbuck (Battlestar Galactica)
Annie Sawyer (Being Human)
Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Zoe Washburn (Firefly)
Mary Margaret Blanchard/Snow White (Once Upon a Time)
Dana Scully (The X-Files)
Peggy Olson (Mad Men)
Donna Friggin' Noble (Doctor Who)
Mary Crawley from Downton Abbey is also taking her slot, but I much prefer the Dowager Countess, Violet Crawley, because Mary is kind of boring.
I was disappointed that Pam Poovey from Archer didn't place more strongly, but I can see the appeal of Lana.
I'm also really happy that Abed Nadir is in the lead for Community, though I'd also be thrilled if Britta came up from second to take the top spot. I voted for Troy, but he won the tournament last year, so I don't mind that he's not placing this year.
Also, Tim Riggins got my vote for Friday Night Lights over Tami Taylor, but only for that awesome glower of his. I may go see John Carter just to see it in action one more time.
Interested in voting? The polls close tomorrow. Fandom March Madness.
Probably my favorite part of FMM is the campaigning that happens in the comments. Last year's FMM is surprisingly free of flames. Sure, there were a couple, but the overall vibe filled me with a sense of love for my fellow human beings. It made me feel good about people and made me feel good about myself. I hope that sense of community follows through to this year. (The Community puns were unintentional, I swear.)
