Day 24 - Favorite Accessory of the Doctor's



When I read fic, I'm always surprised at how much hate the Doctor's blue suit gets. Granted, the t-shirt in "Journey's End" is kind of awful with it, but I love the suit. It's cut well, fits him perfectly, and is a good color for him.

See?


I mention my love for the blue suit because it ties in with today's topic. My favorite accessories of the Doctor's are his maroon Chucks that he wears with the blue suit. I'd still like the blue suit if he wore his white Chucks, but I love the blue suit more because of the pop of red on his feet.

I even went out and bought my very own pair and wear them frequently. When I'm feeling especially fangirly, I wear them with a blue t-shirt.

You know I really never noticed what shoes he wears with what suit I am going to have to pay more attention the next time I watch DT's episodes

If you look, really, really carefully there is a bright red stripe running through the suit. Hence the maroon Chucks.

I don't understand the Blue Suit hate either. I think it's a fine colour (though I will always prefer the Brown suit), and when you get the flashes of red stripe it really makes the suit pop. Sadly that didn't transfer to screen as well as the robin's egg blue in the brown suit.

I also think it's super cute the Ten2 and Rose are coordinated in JE (He blue and red, She blue and pink).

Yes, the red pinstripe! I wish it showed up more, but I like the suit even when I can't see the pinstripe.

My husband and I were recently discussing the Blue Suit. (You may remember I dressed as Ten for Halloween :)

My husband doesn't like that suit for one simple reason, which he pointed out to me, and now I can't unsee it:
the breast pocket.
o_O

Both of the Doctor's suits are very unusual in that they have SO MANY BUTTONS. (My Ten jacket was originally doublebreasted, but it had a wonky, "fashionable" closure, so now it single buttons.) The cut looks excellent on David since he is so tall and thin.

I think blue is a much more common color for suits than brown, which makes brown the more iconic.... but the color isn't bad, nor is the cut. IT'S THAT POCKET. D:

I started collecting Chucks... so I now have the White ones, special occasion use only! as well as blue ones, grey ones (low tops), and white ones with spider webs all over. They are so much fun.

My Ten action figure is wearing the red chucks, blue suit, and long brown coat. He looks awesome!

The pocket doesn't bother me. I always liked the cut of the flap and how it was designed to hold something, but never actually would. I also think it makes the whole suit like slightly more casual than the brown, though the brown eventually developed enough rumple to look pretty casual as well. The blue suit always seems so crisp.

Today, when I think of Ten, I think of the brown suit. When I think of Ten.2, I think of the blue.

That pocket kind of makes it seem like he's going on safari. It reminds me of a safari jacket somehow. Pith Helmets are COOL.

I like that my action figures are so detailed that I can SEE the breast pocket!!

I would keep my psychic paper in there if I were the Doctor.

In my brown suit jacket I'm thinking of sewing a special inner pocket into the lining for the sonic. :)

I am horribly intimidated by the world of cosplay, yet I love to dress up. You know, like when you google tardis costume, and you get that one lady in the full eighteenth Century ballgown, where the inlay is a silk painting of the Tardis interior. It's stunning, but NO WAY. :P In our family, the ease of my husband's hoodie was one of the great beauties of the costumes. And my son, who didn't even wear a costume, but who was pulling the robot dog, said it was the best costume ever. :D

So it makes me really happy that you liked it!!

I'm the opposite about cosplay. I'm not the least bit intimidated, but I don't like dressing up. I like the idea of it, but when I'm dressed up, I feel really uncomfortable and just want to be back in my normal clothes. I'm dead serious about dressing up as River Song, though. I wear jeans, shirts, and jackets anyway and all I'd need is a holster to complete the ensemble. Her hair is slightly curlier than mine, though. I'm going to talk to my hairdresser about how to get it perfect.

I think it would be awesome to dress as River Song. That outfit with the holster looks both kickass and comfortable. I love the energy that Alex Kingston brings to the role (at the same time that I'm deeply troubled by the direction they decided to take her character.)

I do not like River's storyline. I do not like it, Sam I am. But I can't help loving the hell out of her when she's on-screen. She is just a joy to watch.

... Because Alex is so gutsy, has such great energy, and "commits" to the role (actor parlance). She allows River to fully inhabit her body and be smart and have secrets and love the Doctor all at once.

They did her wrong. So wrong.

I bet someone could photoshop an image of a rose onto a river rock-- that would be a pretty cool non-verbal image. :)


Sam is in a Cage because he liked River's arc. !!!
