30 Days of Television - Day 4

annissamazingDay 04 - Your favorite show ever
I'm really struggling with this one. As I write this I'm still waffling between two shows with which I've had serious obsessions. This is particularly bad because I've been planning on doing this meme for over a week and have had a lot of time to consider which shows I would write about.
I chose Doctor Who because my obsession with it is greater than my obsession for my other favorite. I have a sonic screwdriver. I named my wireless connection "the vortex". I'm trying really hard to find a TARDIS-shaped pencil box.
I like Doctor Who so much because it can be categorized as anything and everything. It has everything. It is everything. Science fiction, action, adventure, fantasy, comedy, history, drama, suspense, horror, and just a dash of romance. Doctor Who is an excellent form of escapism and I think that's what television should be all about. When I turn on the tube, I want to be told a story about people I can relate to in fantastical situations doing extraordinary things. Doctor Who delivers.
Doctor Who isn't perfect. It's been going so long in so many different mediums that there isn't really an official canon. The show contradicts itself time and time again. The term "deus ex machina" could refer directly and literally to the Doctor in his TARDIS. And this is why I'm having a hard time choosing Doctor Who over another show. Sometimes it just takes itself too seriously. However, when it's bad it's still mildly interesting and when it's good, it's Fantastic!
