My neighbor Michelle and I moved into our houses within weeks of each other. There was a large stone sitting right on our property line. When Michelle put up her chain link fence the stone was moved next to my garage, well within my property. Sabby died and I used the stone as a placemarker. I went home for lunch today to find that the stone has been removed from my yard and placed in Michelle's flower garden. I am kind of upset about it and don't know what to do about it.

Take it back and paint a memorial on it, making it clear there is a dead cat (?) under it.

It sounds flippant, but I'm somewhat serious. The alternative is talking to her face-to-face and explaining that you were using that stone you found in your own yard as a gravestone for your cat. I would go with the former because I don't normally talk to neighbors.

i agree about taking the stone back, but would advise to talk to her. you'd hope a reasonable person would be willing to give it back.
