Kindergarten Orientation
Aug. 18th, 2011 03:15 pmWe went to Dominic's elementary school orientation this morning. I'd like to say that Dominic is now fully oriented, but I don't think he really has any idea what is happening or what going to school really entails. I consider this neither surprising nor bad. He hasn't had any real experience with school and Justin and I are floundering just as much as Dominic is, only Dominic is way cooler about it than Justin and me. Being on the grown-up side of school orientation is bizarre.
Some other things I discovered this morning:
Elementary schools all smell the same.
Elementary school classrooms make me feel like a giant. Also, the little hallways where kids collect their hot lunches are ridiculously narrow.
I still fear getting into trouble with the teachers.
My "I'm paying attention to you" face is disconcerting to adults used to talking to groups of children. Although, it may be that I just have a creepy face.
