First day of gymnastics
Oct. 2nd, 2010 01:55 pmToday was Dominic's first day of gymnastics. He wasn't very enthusiastic about going. I figured if he didn't like it that we would stop after this 5 week session and find another activity to try. He seemed pretty happy about trying guitar or piano. But it turns out he loves gymnastics.
We got there a little early and his teacher, Miss Ashley, introduced herself. She knew who he was right away because boys are rare in gymnastics and she already knows the only other boy in Dominic's class.

They started out with stretching. They gathered the kids in a circle and played games to get their muscles stretched. Then they demonstrated and taught them the names for different moves they do a lot. I can't remember any of the names. Then they put the kids through a couple of obstacle courses to practice the moves. They did some tumbling, some balance, and some jumping.

Dominic had a blast. At the end they played a song to stretch for cool down and then they all gave Miss Ashley a high five and left. The girls started hugging the teacher after their high fives. Dominic decided to one-up them and kissed Miss Ashley's hand. All the parents in unison go, "Awwww!"
So, gymnastics is a success!
Things for Dominic to work on: personal space, queuing, LISTENING. Still, he was improved in all of things by the end of the one hour lesson.
