I had my annual exam on the 13th of April. My weight shocked me. I knew I was heavy, but I didn't realize how overweight I was. I now fall well within the obese range. I don't like it. So I am now determined to lose weight. I'm counting calories and fat. Each day I weigh myself, multiply my weight by 10 to get the number of calories I need to maintain my weight, then subtract 500 to get the max number of calories I'm allowed per day. I also count grams of fat to make sure my fat intake doesn't exceed 30% of my total daily calories. I'm actually so heavy that it's not hard at all to eat 500 fewer calories than I need to maintain my current weight. I just need to cut out the cheese and sweets.

Breakfast now consists of a bowl of cheerios with skim milk, pin oats with blueberries, or Eggo waffles. Lunch is a peanut butter sandwich, apple, yogurt, and graham crackers. I have carrots to snack on between meals and that usually leaves me with about 1200 calories left over for dinner. Usually dinner doesn't contain that many calories, though, so I've actually been eating well below my daily allotment. Dinner is a cooked vegetable, large salad, and small portion of lean meat. I'm down 7 pounds in one week. The first week is the easiest, though. I'm actually aiming to lose 2 pounds per week. At that rate it should take me about a year to get to a more reasonable weight.
