I've got a co-worker named Robin. A couple years ago Robin and two other girls who no longer work here (Patti and Carrie) started a rumor that Kevin and Yvette were having an affair. Patti even called Yvette's husband to tell him that Yvette was cheating on him. I don't know why they started the rumor, but I know there was no truth in it. I think it's because Patti knew her job was almost done and was trying to bully Yvette into quitting so she could take over Yvette's job. Yvette's husband believed Patti and beat Yvette for it. Pretty bad, too. She came into work with a black eye. Watching this sort of behavior is a learning experience for me. I can't understand why someone would do that to someone else and I don't even try. But it made me set up a plan with Justin in case anything like that ever happens to us.

Back to Robin, though...

Robin has been dating her boyfriend (also named Justin; I'll call him Justin2) for 7 years. She helped him through college, helped him through the Marines, helped him through Police Academy (no, not the movie), bought a house with him, bought a dog, decorated their baby's room, bought an SUV, was planning their marriage, etc. She hadn't received a proposal yet, but they were "supposed to be married in October." Her words. She had her entire life planned around this guy.

He left her for another woman two months ago. A 20-year-old. Robin left the house they bought together and took most of their stuff with her. Justin2 refused to keep their dog.

Justin2's girlfriend has moved into the house he bought with Robin, and they bought another dog together. Robin found out why he's doing this just this morning. The girl is 4 months pregnant.

With all the rotten things Robin has done (and the above story isn't the only one), I still can't help but feel bad for her. I can't imagine what it's like to have my entire life planned and then have it fall down around me. She has nothing of her former life now.

She tries to make herself feel better by saying, "What goes around comes around," like something horrible will befall her ex because he did this to her. But I can't help thinking about what Robin did to deserve what she got. I guess the saying is true. What goes around does indeed come around.
