My sweetie let me trade in two of his dot hacks and two other games he didn't care for to get SSX3. Just so you know, Dot Hack has a fantastic trade in value right now and I had more than enough to get SSX3. In fact, I had enough left over to get the cheat book as well.
SSX3...I can't say enough. I haven't had this much fun since Sonic Adventure 2. I accidentally got SSX3 for the Playstation, but that's OK because I have a Playstation. I had intended to get it for the X-Box because I have Tricky for the X-Box and I didn't want to have to learn new controls to do tricks. However, our X-Box has been crapping out on us lately. Ever get the blue-screen-of-death on your game console? Not fun. It turns out that the tricks are very intuitive on the Playstation. Plus SSX3 fixed all of the camera angles I'd complained about in Tricky and it's so much better that I don't feel blind in two-player mode. The soundtrack is incredible! I want so much for them to come out with the SSX3 soundtrack on CD so I can have it in my car. The user interface is extremely clever. Pick your character, cruise down the slopes, and choose what you want to play by boarding in that direction. I like that a lot more than the Tricky interface where you had to click your way through three screens just to pick your player and slope.
At first it seemed like the game might be shorter than the previous games because SSX3 takes place entirely on one mountain. Boy, was I wrong. This game is *huge*! I haven't even unlocked the third peak yet and I played it for many, many hours. The final challenge drops you at the top of the third peak and you race down to the bottom of the first peak; a race that takes about 30 minutes!
Oh! Oh! Oh! This just in! The soundtrack is available!!! I'm so there!
So I spent all Saturday evening and most of Sunday cruising the mountain with my girl Elise.
Ok. That's enough. I really, truly could go on for hours about this game.
