I signed my lease today. I got to check out my apartment and it's totally awesome. It's exactly where I'd hoped it would be and is very nearly what I wanted. It's got the sunken living room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a bunch of closets, new fridge and range. The carpet is pale beige and the linoleum is off-white. It gets direct sunlight in the livingroom/dining room and both bedrooms. The previous tenant left blinds in both bedrooms so I don't have to buy any. It's got a light in the small hall-way like entry to the bathroom in the master bedroom and on either side are two closets. I was flipping a switch and couldn't figure out what it was turning on. I finally realized that there's a light above the shower stall. *excited squeal*

Ok. Calm now. The only thing I hadn't counted on was the shower door. It's a pre-fab unit with a swinging door. You can't have both the bathroom door and the shower door open at the same time. Which is bad because I want to put Sabby's litter box in the shower stall. We're going to try to figure out a way to take the shower door off the hinge. My kitty must pee! If I can't take the shower door off the hinges, I'll just put the box in front of the toilet. Not ideal, but it'll work. And I guess it won't be all bad; I actually prefer shower stalls to bathtub/shower combos anyway.

It's so fun to look at new apartments with Justin. I get all excited and girly going around saying, "Oooh! I just love it! Don't you just love it?" And Justin gets all Sherlock Holmes-y looking for stuff wrong with it. We had to inspect the balcony (on the fourth floor, mind you) for water damage before he was happy with it. He flushed all the toilets, ran all the taps, turned the burners on (actually, the left rear burner was out, so good job, Justin!), ran the air conditioning and flipped all the light switches before he would sign the lease.

I know exactly where to put the house warming paintings Cathy gave me.

Speaking of Cathy...The Eastern Orthodox Church near here is having a greek food festival. She and Elyse went to the church to pick up gyros and baked goods. I've gone almost every year since I moved here. I make better baklava, but sometimes it's nice not to have to make it yourself, y'know?

I got back to work and Ed says he has a project for Cathy and me. Apparently Dave S. out west got an RFP that he wants us to make a proposal for. And oh, btw, it's due tomorrow. It's two o'clock in the afternoon and UPS has to be ready by three! Dumbass.

But I'm feeling great. I've got gyros in my stomach and a smorgasbord of greek pastries in front of me. Right now, life is good.
