Oct. 13th, 2006 08:54 amMy son is now a toddler. Yesterday morning he walked slowly across the living room. I think he was heading for me but got distracted by a toy at the last second and veered off toward it. Justin was impressed. He hadn't seen Dominic do that before. Yesterday evening Dominic walked everywhere. He did not crawl at all.
I think one of his toys is possessed. His favorite toy. That one that had the recall. I got the specialty part that fixes the whole "stuck arm in the tube" problem. But now it turns itself on. And then it started making the noises it makes when you spin a little airplane on it. I watched that airplane and it wasn't spinning. It could be a short or it could be the air intake behind the toy moving the dangly bits. It's creepy, whatever it is.
Dominic didn't feel good this morning. He started crying at about 6:00. After I got out of the shower I could still hear him crying. I went to check on him and he was laying limply across Justin's lap crying. I took his temperature, but it was normal. So I looked at what he was doing. Seems to me he had a headache. Both arms were up by his temples. I gave him some infant tylenol and he cheered up right away. I put him on my bed as I got dressed and he started bouncing. He's not heavy enough to get a good bounce, so I helped him out by bouncing the mattress lightly with my arms. That made him laugh. He'd sit up and throw himself back to bounce back off the bed. The look of joyous expectation as he flung himself backward made me laugh. He made one attempt to crawl off the edge of the bed, but Justin caught him. He's fast.
Dominic's added "thank you" to his vocabulary. It sounds like "takoo." And he usually says it when he gives you something. He also says "bye," but it sounds like "die." As he waves, "die! die! die!" He is his father's son.
