Joe Scarborough writes, "When I was a young boy, my biggest concern was whether our Little League team was going to win its games on Saturday.

"My friends and I would spend hours riding our bikes through the woods, playing wiffle ball behind my parents' home, and racing down to the Dairy Freeze at dusk.

"But today's tragic news from a small Illinois town shows once again that the world I knew is dead."

Dear Mr. Scarborough,

The world you knew is dead because you grew up. You didn't worry about anything other than Little League because as a child you were in your own world. You weren't able to understand the dangers that surrounded you at all times. It was up to your parents to protect you from danger. It's nice to reminisce about "the good old days," but the fact is the good old days weren't so good. The world hasn't changed; you have.

The difference between the childhood you knew and the childhood those girls knew all lies with the parents. Your parents protected you from harm. Jerry Hobbs didn't protect his daughter, he murdered her and her friend.

This one's for you, Chrissy.

Yeah. Which is exactly why I always find those nostalgia-wallows so incredibly self0indulgent, annoying, ignorant, and somehow, irresponsible.
You have just fingered why it's irresponsible.
I keep wanting to say, just f*** grow UP.
