I'm very unhappy today. I spent a good portion of my weekend finishing up the maps for Central Dade only to come in this morning and find another rather large pile sitting unfinished on my desk. Further, another stack of Jupiter's maps were sitting on my desk. The small part of them that were finished weren't rounded up to the nearest inch and the miles were written in the wrong spot. Good news is that there's room for me to write the correct number in the correct spot. Bad news is that I have to fix it at all, and it's not anywhere close to finished.
I'm not sure that at this point Cathy could do anything right. She's pissed me off so badly over the past two months that it's almost as if I'm looking for things she's doing wrong. Coming in half an hour late first off. Last week she left while I was out to lunch because "there's no way those maps are going to be done today." That's why I had to take them home. She called in later to see how they were coming along. Near the end of the conversation she asked if she should come back in to help. I told her that unless she intended to take some home, there was no point in her coming in for the last hour to work on these. She told me she had "no intention of taking some home." She said she wouldn't because she won't get paid extra and she had a birthday party to attend. And one more thing that's been irritating me... Friday before last Richard accidentally said "tea time" instead of 5:00. Ever since then, Cathy has been saying that the maps need to be done by tea time. It just makes me want to scream, "YOU'RE NOT ENGLISH! KNOCK IT OFF!!!"

I don't get why she's still there
Date: 2004-12-13 03:11 pm (UTC)People who'd move from places like Hawaii and San Diego, just to have an effing job, ya know?
Apparently Cathy doesn't remember this well enough to value what she's got.
I think it's well past the point of good stiff reminders and well into the nast stage of, "experience is a hard school, but fools will learn in no other."
For one thing, your entire company can't afford f-ups, and she's one big eff-up waiting to happen.
And so are the people who are waiting for her to die of ol age before she leaves.
To quote annoying Brits.
