Apr. 26th, 2004 08:16 amIt was my goal to have a horror movie night with the beloved one this weekend, but it didn't quite work out. We rented Kill Bill (no, it's not horror, but Justin had already seen it and he wanted me to see it too) and 28 Days Later. We watched Kill Bill on Friday night after eating out at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Apparently word's gotten out about how good this restaurant is because for the first time we had to wait in line to be seated. Anyway, I enjoyed Kill Bill. I didn't think I would because I'm not a fan of the gore, but there was so much of it that every time someone would start spewing, I would crack up. Justin assures me that when an artery is cut, humans do, in fact, spew blood very similar to that movie...but it still makes me laugh.
On Saturday we watched The Shining. That's probably my second favorite horror movie of all time. The first is The Changeling. After The Shining, Justin wasn't in much of a mood for more horror movies, so he decided to play Animal Crossing. So at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night, I popped 28 Days Later into the VCR and watched it by myself. Probably a mistake, but I suffered no ill effects. I did have to stop it twice to get my heart rate to slow down, though. I'm not a fan of the suspense movies, and this had plenty of suspense. It's probably not nearly as scary the second time around. There were a lot of interesting themes in the movie, though. I heard on snopes.com that the story was inspired by road rage.
My favorite line from 28 Days Later, "Mmmm...irradiated."
