I have a meeting at 11:00. According to my clock that's in 11 minutes. I asked Barb what it was about and she thinks its about someone leaving the coffee pot on all night. It exploded and the building filled with smoke. Also whoever left last last night left the whole building open. No alarm, no locked front door. Someone's in a heap 'o trouble. I've never been more glad that I'm neither a coffee drinker nor the last one to leave.

coffee pots at work

Are coffee pots at work a problem everywhere? Every company I've worked at, the coffee pot has been an issue. Like you, I'm glad that I'm not a coffee drinker so I'm (mostly) excluded from all the coffee pettiness.
Who left only a little coffee in the pot? Why didn't you start a new pot? Why are all three pots dirty? Who made decaf in the wrong pot? Who used more than one coffee packet on one pot? Who forgot to turn it off last night? On and on and on their bickering goes.

A couple of jobs ago, I was sometimes the last person to leave the building, and making sure the coffee pot was turned of was on my locking-up checklist (although I somewhat resented having to check it since I never used it).

If I ever end up in a position where it would be my decision - I just wouldn't provide my employees with coffee. Tough luck. It makes adults behave like children with all the bickering, so I'd rather just not have it in the workplace.
