Because despite the fact that now he's an arrogant asshole, at one point in time he meant something to you. It hurts because he isn't the same person that you once knew but he still wears that person's face.
I know somewhat how you feel. I felt somewhat snubbed when Ron didn't attend my wedding. But at the same time we were all happy that he wasn't going to be there to ruin the day with his crappy attitude.
