Day 17 - Favorite mini series

The Stand

I was a sophomore in high school the first time I saw The Stand. I've always been interested in post-apocalyptic dystopia stories and The Stand hits all of the elements I find intriguing: how more than 99% of the earth's population are exterminated and how the survivors deal with the consequences. The story had the added bonus of a good vs. evil tale at the end, which I always enjoy. Unfortunately, the ABC miniseries doesn't hold up well over time. I really wanted to choose Torchwood: Children of Earth as my favorite because it is far better television. The problem is, I found CoE far too emotionally painful to rewatch. I loved The Stand so much that my mother gave it to me on VHS for Christmas several years ago and I watched it over and over. And even though I don't have a VCR anymore, I still have the tapes.

I love this one too! I re-read the book this year and watched the miniseries on youtube (netflix didn't have it)
