Oct. 2nd, 2003 08:24 amI watched the season premiere of Angel last night. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's the first time (maybe second) I've enjoyed Harmony's character. She's usually ruined for me because of her voice and this girl named Harmoney I went to school with who would get really, really mad if you spelled her name without the "e". It's not my fault her mother didn't know how to spell harmony. However, in this episode, Harmony provided all of the comic relief. And she did it well! Go Mercedes McNab! I didn't think I would miss Cordelia, but I did for at least the first half of the show. But then I got so much into the story that I forgot about her.
I really need to get the rest of Angel on DVD to fill in the holes. It shouldn't be too bad. After all, I didn't start watching Buffy until season 6, and I still loved it.
Stauche and Cry should be hitting town sometime this afternoon or evening. Can't wait to see them!

Date: 2003-10-02 10:16 am (UTC)Angel kicks much ass. I love Angel more than I like Buffy. I was disapointed in the credits, though. I noticed very few scenes from the previous seasons in the opening credits. It made me sad. It was like they were just trying to ignore that they ever had two other cast members. The only original cast member left is Angel at this point.
You will like Season One's plot if you like Monster of the Week plots. But, they do a really good job on character development during that first season. You start to get into more of Angel's backstory and Cordelia becomes a 3 dimensional character. And just to let you know, Wesley was not originally cast into Angel. The actor who had the supporting role actually had some sort of disease and had to leave the show mid season. I'm saying this because it lessens the blow of the character's loss. And he was a really great character.
I found that I got a better deal buying the DVDs at Costco than anywhere else. Do they even have a Costco in Ohio?

Date: 2003-10-02 12:43 pm (UTC)I bought Angel Season One on DVD about a month ago. I watched it all in about a weekend. I enjoyed it very much. Actually more than I thought I would. I knew that Glenn Quinn had died. I heard it on the radio when it happened and they mentioned that he had played Mark on Roseanne (one of my all-time favorite sitcoms). So I knew who he was. I'd also read on some fansites that they'd hoped he'd be back for a cameo or guest-starring role before he passed on. It wasn't a surprise that he died on the show for me, but his real-life death made the end of that episode that much more poignant.
I'm anxious to get season 2 on DVD. I've asked for it from Justin for my birthday, but he *hates* Angel and Buffy, so I'm not sure he'll get it for me. Then again, I have no interest in "Urutsokidoji" but I got it for Justin for Christmas. I didn't know that season one ended with a cliffhanger. I'm very mad at you for not telling me. :)
We don't have Costco here. We have Sam's Club and BJ's. I used to be a member of BJ's, but I wasn't saving any money, so I'm not anymore. Best Buy tends to have boxed sets much cheaper than any other place I look. Usually by about five dollars.
Justin doesn't let me buy anything for myself within a month of my birthday. It's just as well. With the extra phone charges and the extra rent charges (an extra $100 for the next two months for the cat deposit), I can't afford to buy anything anyway.
