Oh yeah. We had a blizzard this weekend. I took this picture this morning. It's my backyard.



Having the driveway shovelled was the best $18 I've ever spent.

$18??!!! What a steal!!! Have fun in all that snow! Hope it doesn't melt before you get to play in it. How about some pics of Dominic in the snow? :)

Love the train tracks too! What a clever boy! Nice job not "fixing" it! I love it when I see parents who allow their kids to be so creative.

Wish I could have gotten some pictures from Saturday. We went out in a lull in the storm to do some shoveling in the driveway. He kept trying to get the shovel out my hands and saying, "Let me help you, mommy." Oh so sweet! So I gave him part of a rake and he started "helping" me shovel (You know the kind of help that's more hindrance, but there's no way you'd ask them to stop because you want to foster that cooperative spirit). He got bored with that pretty fast and started sliding down the mound of snow on the side of the driveway. I'm not sure how he did it, but he lost one of his boots. He came up to me with it in his hand asking me to put it back on him. He got snow in it, so I took him inside and we called it a day.

I love it when it snows (hate to drive in it though). But my backyard has a perfect slope for my kiddos. I got us some cheap round sleds and we go out and sled to their hearts content. It's great fun. Madisyn (3) doesn't sled for very long (the first couple times I have to put her in my lap, then she'll go a few by herself, but then she gets bored). But she loves to watch me go. :) So much fun! I love love love snow days!!!

Oh! And I wanted to take him out yesterday to build a fort in the snow (it's perfect for forts!), but he said he didn't want to go out.

I'm always amazed by the arrangements he makes with those train tracks. In the beginning it was hard for me to allow him to just build. I wanted to configure them like the little brochures that come with the tracks say. And then nail them down. I'm glad Justin talked me out of that. It's so neat to see him build and play with them.

I have a difficult time with that kind of stuff myself. Jay is helping me though. I let Kyanna decorate her own birthday cake all by herself (she turned 5, Ramius is 11 and I've never let him do it) but Jay encourages the kids to do as much as they can with very little intervening and only at their request. It was so hard to watch her do it, but I was so glad I did! Her face was beaming with pride when she was done. I still need to post some pics (I just uploaded them to my computer over the weekend). It turned out so much better than what I'd imagined it would. And she got a huge confidence boost out of it. So worth it!
