Traveling to Coeur d'Alene this March

Mom's 60th birthday is coming up and my family is getting together to celebrate in Coeur d'Alene. I'm not quite sure how I want to work this yet. Should I fly into Seattle or Spokane? If I fly into Seattle then I could spend a couple days visiting friends. If I fly into Spokane I don't have to drive 6 hours each way with a toddler in the back with the possibility that the pass will be closed. Why couldn't mom turn 60 in the summer?

I'd also like to go to the Valley sometime during this visit as I wasn't able to get down there last year and I miss it terribly.

Oh, and it'll be just me and Dominic since Justin started his new job and doesn't yet have any vacation time.
