The fruit arrangement I sent to Justin on Thursday went over very well. He called me from work to thank me and mentioned that his co-workers liked it so much that several girls in the Akron area would also be receiving fruit arrangements in the near future. He brought the leftovers home. It was very tasty!

On Friday, as Justin and Dominic were pulling out of the driveway, I jumped into my car and turned the key. I got the normal beeping and lights, but when I tried to turn the car on, everything died. I called work and after about an hour (I get to work about an hour before most of my co-workers), someone stopped by my house to jump start my battery. Unfortunately, the battery was so dead that we couldn't shift the car out of park. I had to call a tow-truck to come get it. They popped the safety switch on the transmission and got it into neutral and together we pushed it into the street where they jacked it up onto their truck and took off with it. At the time, I didn't know what was wrong with it, and since I had started car shopping anyway, I decided to finish up the leg work. I called my bank and got all their interest rates for different years of used cars. I also got pre-approved for a loan, so I know my price range. When I find the car I want, I just call them and they arrange for me to go to a branch and pick up a check. Man, that was way easier than dealing with a dealership. I don't know why I didn't do that for any of the other cars I've bought. I also called my insurance agent (which, side note, was a great idea because apparently that was the day my house insurance renewed and the cost was going to practically double, but since I called I got identity theft insurance added and they switched me to a house plan that's $5 less than the one I was going to be switched to if I hadn't called) and got some quotes on different models I'm looking at. With the Mazda 3, my car insurance would go up $30 per month. With a Volvo C30, it will go up $40 per month. I'm going to call some dealerships and see if they have lease options for the Volvo. I got approved for the right amount of money to buy one (even a customized one), but it's still more money than I want to pay out every month.

I love car shopping. *LOVE* it. I'm willing to drag this out as long as possible. What other models should I look at?

Oh, and it turns out my battery in my Kia was dead. That's all.
