Weekend stuff
Jul. 14th, 2008 08:16 amWe had a nice weekend. Once again, Dominic and I hit the flea market looking for 3T clothing. My vendor still had just the one orange and gray shirt (orange and gray?) so Dom and I browsed through everything else at the market then got a hawaiian ice to share. We went to Chick-fil-A (tic-a-lay!) for lunch as usual and after eating Dominic went to play in the kiddie area. I let him play until just after noon then grabbed his shoes and told him it was time to go. Surprisingly, he didn't fight me at all. He just waved at all the kids and said, "Goodbye friends!" The other parents all oohed and awwed. Even I was impressed with how cute that was.
When he went down for his nap, I logged in to FFXI and a ls friend (the man who gave me the pearl, actually) helped me quest all 3 of my lvl 36 teleport spells.
After Justin got home and Dom woke up from his nap, I logged off the game and we took Dominic out to dinner at Old Carolina again. Their brisket is just so darned good! Dominic got his own little cup of barbecue sauce again. He ate his hot dog and then begged for Justin's brisket. It'll be a brisket sandwich for him next time.

Yesterday we took him to his very first movie. We went to see Wall-E. He was so excited! He chose the highest seats in the theater and then was bouncing around until the movie started. Then he got into my lap and fidgeted a while and kept asking, "What happened? What happened?" About 30 minutes into the movie he fell asleep. He woke up with about 15 minutes left and was enthralled with the stuff on the screen. He kept quiet and just kept pointing and gasping. As we left the theatre he started bouncing around and saying, "It was fun in there!" Justin and I agree that he's still too young to go to the movies, but we had a nice time anyway and the movie was very cute.
Dominic stayed the night at his grandparents' house last night. They're trying to soak up as much time with him as possible before they move to Nashville at the end of the month. Justin and I went to K-Mart and bought tons of summer clothes for him (my vendor at the flea market where I normally buy his clothes has been sold out for well over a month and Dom needs clothes). It felt weird to spend more than $1.50 on a shirt, but at $3.00 per shirt, I can hardly complain. I also decided to try Veet. I've never used a depilatory cream before and I'm not sure I would again. I smell a lot like I just had a perm and it didn't remove all the hair even though I left it on for the maximum allowable time. So now I have these weird hairy patches on my legs and I shouldn't shave or use the cream again for a few days.
Last night I logged into the game again and got a party within 5 minutes (not bad!). I was a little nervous when I showed up at camp, though, because it seems as though our pt leader had invited more people than we had room for. He had invited a static of two people, but then only allowed one to join. That ended with both people in the static shouting french swears at the party leader. I checked each person in the party and the leader's sub-job was gimped by about 4 levels. While the leader was searching for a 6th member to replace the static guy that dropped the party I noticed a dead guy just off to the side of the Garlaige Citadel entrance. I asked him if he needed a raise. He accepted and I raised and cured him, then my party and I ran inside the Citadel to start xping. Our Paladin needed to log after an hour, so we found a replacement and continued partying. Our puller got 2 links, but instead of running for the zone, tried to stay and fight them. That ended with both of us having to run for the zone. I made it to Sauromugue Champaigne with only 68 hp left. The guy I raised was still out there, saw me weakened, and cured me to full health (I just love Karma!). I was able to run back into the Citadel and we finished both bats with no deaths.
Gimp leader had to leave and passed me party leadership. I replaced him with a summoner who arrived in record time. The first mob of this new party was a little shakey and then we fell into a rhythm that was just gorgeous. XP flowed like it has never flowed in Garlaige before. By 10:00 I was a lvl 36 white mage and had learned all 3 teleport spells. I found myself a replacement so the party could continue going and then logged off. As I left all party members said it was a pleasure to party with me and told me how great a party it was. I logged off and went to bed, but I was so happy and excited (learning the teleport spells is a big deal!) that it was hard for me to sleep.
My only regret is that I waited until so late to look for a party. I'd really have loved to make it to 37, which I could have done within an hour at the rate we were going. But I get cranky when I don't get enough sleep and it was already an hour past my bedtime. When I reach 37 I'm done with white mage. I loved the job when I started it, but now I'm so bored I could cry. I figure next time I get a party, I'll try to ride it until lvl 40. Even though I don't really need level 40, it would be nice to get the more advanced teleport spells for tele-taxiing. I need better ways to make money and that looks like a fairly decent option at my level.
