Sony and I went shopping for baby shower things yesterday. Sony floated the idea of an afternoon tea party. I think that's a really neat idea and not something you'd typically see at a baby shower. So we looked at plates, napkins and invitations and picked up a couple favors. We're going to hit the second hand shops looking for mismatched tea cups that the guests can take home with them. I'm getting recipes together for tea cookies and cakes. I've got a recipe for a four-layer german chocolate cake that I'm dying to try. I also have recipes for coconut washboards and raspberry bars. Sony said she wanted to experiment with waffle-shaped pretzels, topping them with chocolate, caramel, and a whole pecan. Justin suggested getting a stripper. I said I thought a stripper might be inappropriate for a baby shower, so he suggested getting a pregnant stripper.

I failed my gestational diabetes test. I don't feel diabetic, though. So I have to fast after 8:30 tonight, go in to the doctor's office tomorrow at 8:30 to drink more glucola, wait an hour and have more blood drawn. Then wait another hour and have more blood drawn. Then wait another hour and have more blood drawn. There might be another hour and another blood draw in there, but I'm not sure. Tomorrow's gonna suck.

Dad just sent a list of the most popular baby names from several countries. He adds:
hey;

ALMA - a family name originating about 100 years ago in the Grider family

Bertha - Ya, I know-STOP LAUGHING -DAMN IT!! This was Grandma Ida's mother's name and she was cool.

Frederick - Grandma Ida's father's name who's surname was Adams and who fought in the Prussian Wars. Hey - Fred is kind a cool. right? Right? RIGHT? OK. Forget it.

Of course there is Joeseph who was one of the two German brothers who came into the Carolinas from Germany in about 1790 (actuall - shortly before - and caused all this mass of folks.)

And of course my all time favorites of Olaf and Quinn. Ya I know, but they would grow up strong and folks would respect them after a time for their streangth. Good seafaring men - one and all. Especially if they marry a Bertha kind of woman.

Ok - I'll go away now. Bye
pop

He enlarged the font on all the names he liked. "Ida" was enormous. I love(d) my Grandma Ida. I don't think I'd use the name, though. Frederick Adams is an awesome name, though.
