Aug. 5th, 2004 11:04 amTired, embarrassed, and frustrated. What a morning. We were supposed to have a meeting this morning, but I didn't have the number. Got it from Pam. The conference phone had been moved and I couldn't move it back because the wires were all tangled. Then it wouldn't even work. Mark finally got it working and I log onto the conference call five minutes late. Four people were already there. Four wrong people were there. I had butted into an interview for the utility department. Why were they using our conference code? I went to Alane and said someone was using our code. She looks embarrassed and says, "I am...do you want your own code." Um...yeah. Please.
So I started calling all of my people to tell them not to call in and go over the agenda with them individually. All but one of them had called in and also butted in on the interview. The last one, Bill, forgot entirely about it (not a surprise. He's missed every single meeting so far). He mentioned he hadn't heard anything about the Boston activity. Katy had been planning it, but she quit and left all of her stuff with Darrin. I called Darrin (who I've never talked to before, btw) who said he passed it all on to Jon. I called Jon who said that he hadn't received it. So if Boston is having an activity, no one knows how to pull it off and no one seems to be willing to take the leadership position and make sure it gets done. Bill should be doing it, but I don't think he will. I need to fire him.
On top of all this, the flashlights we sent to all the employees are malfunctioning. The batteries are shorting out and melting the battery casing. So far we have 15 melted flashlights, one ruined dining table, and one burned child (not seriously burned, just an ouchie). Alane's doing damage control and I'm trying to reach everyone via phone and mail to take the batteries out of the flashlights.
I want to go home.
