Yesterday was a scream, cry, and pull your hair out kind of evening. At 5:30, approximately 20 minutes after I arrived home, I got a call from my mom. She reiterated the scheduling problem with the church which I already knew had been fixed and then went on to tell me that the bishop I contacted six months ago would not be able to officiate the wedding after all. And that in trying to find another bishop to officiate, found a little-known rule on the books that says I need to have someone write a letter to the 1st Presidency in Utah asking for permission for a bishop other than my own to officiate. I was annoyed at first, but I started making phone calls. I can handle this, right?

I called my visiting teacher, Melinda, to get the Tallmadge Ward bishop's phone number. I explained my problem to her, she gave me Bishop Juhausz's number, then she said her father was a former bishop and was currently on the other line and she'd try to get more information from him. Unfortunately a member of my ward died on Sunday so Bishop Juhausz was not available for me. I got another call from my mom who said she contacted the office of the 1st Presidency and they said they just needed a phone call from the Clarkston Ward's bishop and they'd take care of the rest. So I called Bishop Tucker (some of you might remember his kids, Heather and Brian) in Clarkston and he says that I need to contact the Tallmadge Stake President and have him write the letter. He also said that if I got it done this week, the letter might get there in time. So I called Melinda back, but she only had the number for one of the Stake President's counselors. I called the counselor, but he wasn't home. Fortunately his wife took a message. When he called back he said I needed to contact Bishop Juhausz and he was supposed to write the letter.

At 9:30 last night I was finally able to reach Bishop Juhausz. He said he knew a little bit about that rule, but he hasn't read the handbook and doesn't know everything about it. I tried to explain what little I knew about it and gave him Bishop Tucker's address and phone number. Bishop Juhausz said he'd call Bishop Tucker. I expect to receive another call sometime soon from either Juhausz or Tucker saying I need to contact yet another person and get the letter from him.

Justin got home while I was in the middle of trying to fix this debacle. I still pretty much had my stuff together. Then he asked me how my day was and I just let loose. Yep, screaming, crying, the whole bit. I'm not proud. Then he ordered me a pizza. I went back to the phone to make more calls and noticed that on my little note pad by the phone he had written, "I love you," at the bottom. That made me feel so much better.
