Justin and I went to see Fahrenheit 9/11 on Saturday. I've liked Michael Moore since TV Nation was aired back in 1994. I became quite disenchanted with him when I saw that he fudged facts in Bowling for Columbine. After all, if you have to make stuff up to prove your point, you don't have a point to prove. Luckily Fahrenheit 9/11 is a far cry from Bowling for Columbine. I found it incredibly moving. That good ol' Michael Moore smarminess did shine through at least twice. He might do better if he sat back and let the facts speak for themselves. I don't see any need for him to add, "Who's your daddy?" in voiceover. I enjoyed his stunt with the ice cream truck, though.

As we left the theater we overheard a man say, "George W. Bush is the worst president since Harding." Justin mumbles in a rather whiny tone, "I don't think Harding was that bad." This really has nothing to do with the movie, but I was amused by it.

The people in my theater congregated outside after the movie to discuss. It was kind of neat to see so many people who obviously didn't go to the movie together talking so openly about their thoughts and opinions on our current administration. Justin and I stopped long enough to get a voter registration form from a man handing them out. I've been registered since I moved to Ohio, but I don't think Justin has updated his registration since we moved last year.

I wanted to buy Nerf Herder's American Cheese but Borders didn't have it and we ended up not going to Quonset Hut because I was still all cry-faced from the movie. Yeah, I cried. What's it to you?

:)

Cathy tells me that they were out walking on the KSU campus this weekend. They stopped at the sculpture on campus that looks like a library. That is, there are walls made out of concrete that have book spines engraved (that's not the right word, but I can't think of it) in it. Different sized spines with titles written on them. There are also benches around so when you sit you feel like you're in a concrete library. Jasper pretended to pull a book off of a shelf and asked Cathy to read him a story. She said she's not good at making up stories so she asked Jasper to tell her one. So he told her the story of a train who was unhappy because he didn't have any parents. But then a nice mommy and daddy came and became his parents and then they were all happy. Very sweet. Cathy has been telling him a very similar story so he doesn't ever have the shock of finding out he's adopted. It will always just be a fact. It seems he's comprehending. Cathy asks him if he remembers the orphanage, but he says he doesn't. She played him the video tape once, but he saw it and began to cry. I don't think she's played it for him since then.
