I went to bed on Friday with every intention of waking up Saturday and doing some major packing/cleaning, but when I woke up, I hadn't counted on the migraine and terrible back pain I had. Well, actually, I had the terrible back pain when I was at work on Friday afternoon. Mark and Cathy thought it was kidney pain. I had no pain reliever in the house, so I stumbled out of bed, washed my face, got dressed and headed to the store. I got some advil migraine and some cranberry juice. Then I headed over to Borders. I figured if I'm going to be sick all weekend, I may as well enjoy it. So I broke down and bought Angel Season One on DVD. I watched episodes "Welcome to" through halfway through "Parting Gifts" before Justin got home. I finished "Parting Gifts" and turned it off for the day. On Sunday, we had our usual routine of taking Justin's grandmother to lunch. We went to Rockne's, but they have the straight backed booths that have no cushioning and my back was killing me. So we cut it off sooner than we would have and headed back home. I was able to watch through "Sanctuary" before I went to bed last night. So far I really like "Rm w/a Vu" and "Sanctuary." The dance sequence during the closing credits made up for the episode "She." Reminded me of "Strangers With Candy." Ok, so Angel's better than I thought it would be. I hear it really hits its stride in Season 2. I say I'll wait till after the wedding to buy it. We'll see.

Yep, -Angel- improves radically in season 2. The first year is okay, but the writers are obviously trying to find a consistent tone and POV - most of the best episodes are -Buffy- related (though I think Spike was written severely out of character in his appearance). There's also a "monster-of-the-week" feel to many of the shows. With the second year there's much more of a focus on Angel's character, and his past, and more developed story arcs (and Wolfram and Hart becomes a more dangerous threat). The drama's taken up a few notches (in a good way), too. And there's more Whedon-style humor (ALWAYS a good thing :) ).

Let me know how your back pain is going. I hope you're okay! :) My dad has serious back problems, and I have a heavy fear that I may have inherited it in some hereditary quirk.
