There might be overlap! Maybe some of your speeches for that class could be on similar topics as papers for another class. (Note: I'm sure you know this, but just because some people reading this might not: do NOT just take a paper and turn it into a speech. That's usually considered double-dipping and can get you in heaps of trouble. But you could pick a related topic that you already learned a lot about while researching the paper! If in doubt, ask your instructor where he/she draws the line.) It wouldn't negate the workload, but it'd cut down on it.
