Summer To-Do List
Phase 1 of Operation: Get My House In Order has been completed successfully.
The finished room in the basement is clean and has been converted into a playroom. I found that it's very easy to convert a room with almost no furniture from a dumping ground into pretty much anything. All the clothes and toys Dominic no longer uses have been sorted and either donated to charity, thrown away, or set aside for my friends' kids. We took a whole truckload of clothes and toys to Goodwill, then made a second trip to the dumpster at my work. We also set some of the larger items out on the curb for the pickers to collect. Someone picked up the baby swing and someone else claimed the stroller, but no one seems to want the blue rug or the crib mattress. If the mattress is still out there by the time I go to bed, I'll bring it back inside. It's a very nice mattress and it shouldn't go in the trash. Maybe I'll throw a $5 sign on it. That'll probably encourage someone to take it.
We kept just one small tote of toys and the metal trucks that belonged to my father-in-law when he was a child. There's now plenty of room to set up the train table. Dominic is so excited that he's been running laps down there.
We tried to test drive the Fiat 500 again today. The dealership is now open for business, so we made the trip up to Strongsville. Unfortunately, they're not open today, so we went next door to the candy store instead. Dominic picked out what he wanted immediately, then sat on a bench and looked extremely bored while Justin and I looked around. So much for being a kid in a candy store.
I'm very tired, but I feel really good about the work that the three of us accomplished this weekend. In addition to the basement cleaning, I also got the kitchen and living room clean and shampooed the living room carpet.

It really was not something I wanted to come home to, but what can you do when you own a house there is always something that needs to be done.
