Day 16 - Your guilty pleasure show
Special Unit 2
Trying to figure out what my guilty pleasure tv show is was especially challenging. I like to think I have excellent taste in entertainment. Other people may not agree with my choices, but I know what I like and I know why I like it. I figure if I enjoy something, it's because it is genuinely good. I considered going with Roseanne because a lot of people don't understand why I like it as much as I do, but I think it was far too popular to be considered a guilty pleasure. Then I started thinking about some of Dominic's shows. Phineas and Ferb is particularly enjoyable, and while I always enjoy it when it's on, I only watch it if Dominic wants to watch it. I never turn it on for myself. I was talking to Justin last night and he reminded me of this really terrible show that we both couldn't get enough of.
Special Unit 2 was kind of like a B movie, only in tv form. Michael Landes and Alexondra Lee were cast (in my opinion, more for their looks than their acting abilities) as Detectives Nick O'Malley and Kate Benson who worked for a special branch of the Chicago police department to track down supernatural creatures known as "links" living within the human population. Links could be werewolves or gargoyles or mummies, but not vampires because that would be ridiculous. And I think that's why I liked the show so much. It was terrible. I mean really bad. But the humor came at you sideways. It was unexpected and that's what made it so enjoyable.
