Breaking Dawn - up to pg. 265

Amazon surprised me by delivering my book on the day I expected them to ship it. I love you, Amazon.

I started reading when I got home last night and I did my best to contain my squeals of delight at the first couple of chapters. A few escaped, but on the whole, I kept my cool.

And then the book took an unexpected turn. An annoying one. I'm avoiding all Twilight blogs and news sites until i finish this book. Is anyone else reading Breaking Dawn?

I read the back cover of the first book and almost vomited. That's what I get for getting an English Degree...sigh...I can't read any kind of semi-serial tripe anymore...and it pisses me off...that and I don't like Vampires since Fritz ruined them for me in my youth...

I finished it last night. I actually quite enjoyed it, despite that weird turn. Would read again.

I don't have an english degree and even I noticed how poorly written the first book is (the back cover is actually a lot worse than the actual book), so I don't blame you a bit. I originally had a love/hate relationship with the series, but after the third book, it morphed into pure love. Usually I can't read vampire stories. They tend to be too cheesily romantic and angsty. These books walk a very fine line, but for me, don't quite cross it.

In truth, I would never have picked them up. A friend of mine insisted I read them and even when I told her, "No, thank you," she brought the first one anyway and said if I didn't like it she'd drop it entirely. I only kind of liked it, but they include the first chapter of the second book and you can't finish the first chapter of New Moon without finishing the book. I've never met anyone who could.

Ahhh, I'm jealous. I want to read it so bad and have zero time right now. I guess when I finally have time it will be available at the library.
Hmmm... maybe I could read it one-handed in tiny breast-feeding increments of time?

I'm still jealous that my brother got her other book (not the same series) and said it was even better than this series and he raved about it. That's what I get for introducing him to the author. :( ~sniffle~

The Host? It was pretty good. I think it was better written than Twilight, but I enjoyed them both about equally.

I had a hard time getting any reading done when Dominic was new, too. But you'll get into a groove here pretty soon and be able to balance a baby on the breast and a book on the arm of the couch.
