Justin and I took Dominic to "A Day Out with Thomas" on Sunday. The day started out beautiful, sunny and warm. We drove to Peninsula and noticed some ominous clouds heading our way. When we got to the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway, it started to drizzle. When we got to the parking lot, it started to pour. When we went to get our coats on, it started to hail. So we sat in the car for a while waiting for a break in the weather. Strangely, the dark black cloud was just over us and we could see blue sky not far away. When the hail stopped and it was just rain, we got out of the car and headed to the group of tents where various Thomas-related activities were taking place. It would have been really nice, except for the rivers of muddy water flowing through all of the tents. As the time for our ride neared, we headed toward the station to get a place under the platform roof to get out of the rain. I got lots of pictures of Dominic's face as Thomas pulled up to the station (I'll upload them later). Just then, the weather truly broke and the sun came out. When our ride was over, it was blue sky and puffy white clouds. We got pictures of Dominic in front of Thomas. He looks somewhat confused in them. When we had to leave, it was two hours past his naptime and he threw a tantrum screaming, "I want to ride Thomas again!" We wrangled him into the car and drove past the train. At a stop sign next to Thomas I told Dominic to tell Thomas goodbye. He stopped crying long enough to moan, "Goodbye Thomas" then he let out a keening wail. It was enough to break my heart and make me want to cry too. Meeting your personal heroes can be tough.

I can't download the pictures, but here's the username and password to the photographer's website if you'd like to see.

Dominic's pictures are the first two on page 8.

Edit: Strike that, they sent an electronic copy with my order confirmation.

Every day Dominic asks to ride Thomas. "I want to ride Thomas, Mommy. I want to ride Thomas, please." I had to tell him that Thomas went back to Sodor and wouldn't be back till next year, like Santa. He ignores me and keeps asking. I feel bad that I can't say yes.
