Dec. 7th, 2004 02:05 pmDiane has viral meningitis aggravated by the fumes from construction. She'll live.
I have four people wheeling maps for this project which takes most of the pressure off of me. Strangely I appear to have become the boss. Maybe now they'll give me the title "assistant manager" instead of beating around the bush with my completely non-descript current title. Ed being the super-manager that he is called Bob to bawl him out for his behavior on Friday and pulled Cathy aside when she finally showed up to warn her to stay away. Cathy and I are on good terms again. There was much sucking up and brownies.
I'm not the kind of person to cry to get what she wants, so I'm ashamed to admit that there were tears involved yesterday. However, I am surprised and pleased to learn how well they work. I could have asked for anything yesterday and it would have been served to me on a silver platter. I feel powerful. I like to think it has more to do with the fact that I've likely saved the company several million dollars, but it's probably because of the tears.
My timesheet for last week sits at 68 hours. That means 28 hours of time and a half overtime! I continue to work overtime, but not at the fever pace of last week. I've setup a makeshift drafting table in my living room. In the evenings Justin and I watch Millennium while I wheel maps. It's very relaxing. I expect a couple more weeks of this before we get ahead of the foresters in the field. They're currently going through the work faster than we can produce it.
