I think Akron has something similar to this going on with cash advance businesses. I'm beginning to think there's something insidious happening. They're everywhere. There's at least four in the immediate Chapel Hill area with more opening all the time. Kevin tells me that when he bought his house, he had to use one because he didn't have enough cash to pay his bills even though payday was just around the corner. That's fine, but how many people are in this situation to warrant so many of these stores? How are we getting overextended so often? I'm not exactly innocent here. I have my debt. I have credit cards. But I also have enough money to pay them (usually more than the minimums even) when the time comes to pay them.

Oct. 12th, 2004 09:55 amI burned the living hell out of the roof of my mouth last night on an especially hot piece of broccoli. It doesn't hurt very much, but it blistered up and skin was hanging off and other nasty stuff. It started bleeding pretty bad when I brushed my teeth this morning. I just ate my lunch and now it's bleeding again and it tastes bad.

Four emails today about what a horrible man John Kerry is!
"The communists are endorsing him!"
"He has no higher education!"
"Rick Leatherman says he's the devil!"
"He's going to ban voluntary prayer in school!"
Every day from now until the election, I'm sending the Daily MisLead from MoveOn.org. I am well aware that Moveon.org is just as biased as Fox News, but, damnit, I'm so fucking sick of these spam emails that I just want to give them a taste of their own medicine. Let them be on the defensive for once.
The part that pisses me off the most here is that I don't even like John Kerry! I don't think he was the best candidate for the democratic party. But I'll be damned if I'm going to sit back and let my mother's brother spread lies.
