Phone Service

So here's the deal.

SBC says we need to have AT&T come out to rewire our apartment to get service. AT&T says they'll charge me $135 for the first half hour for a tie-down. SBC says even if I go back to using them for service, they'll also charge me because there's a crossed wire somewhere, but that the apartment complex should reimburse me. It is, after all, their wiring. The apartment complex says they won't pay for it, that SBC came and crossed the wires and that it's their responsibility. So what should I do? Pay the $135. Switch back to SBC (which is more expensive, but works out about the same if I pay AT&T the $135). Or should I just say "fuck off" to all of them and switch to a cell phone?

Everybody wants a piece

Not only do *I* have to pay to have the phone lines fixed in my new place, but now my old place wants me to pay rent for October, too. My lease ends the end of September, I gave them three months notice that I'm moving. What the fuck are they thinking?
