Power outages
Aug. 15th, 2003 08:08 amSince everyone's doing posts on the power outage I figured I'd do one too.
I live and work in a city that has an independent power source. We had some flickering lights for about ten seconds and that was all. However, I don't know what the water situation is for my city yet. So no shower. During any iffy situation, I fill up some pots with water just in case, so I've got some sitting out right now that should be safe to drink.
The pumps that pump water from Lake Erie into Cleveland shut down so they have about 5,000 miles of pipe that need to be flushed before the water is safe to drink. All city beaches are closed because of sewage leakage into the lake. Other cities are under a boil advisory. Summer finally hit northeastern Ohio yesterday. After months of rain and flooding we finally get heat and now we have no water. Is this an appropriate time to use the word "irony?"
My thanks to God for keeping one more bad thing from happening to me in a point in my life where I'm not sure I can take any more.
