Jul. 17th, 2003 08:07 amI talked to Justin last night about cancelling our wedding plans. He seemed to think it was a good idea. He was just concerned that I would be upset about not having the big, white wedding. We had this friend, Jessica, who got a quickie wedding to the man by whom she was pregnant. It was just this small church affair with their parents and her siblings. But after she had the baby, she decided that she needed a big wedding. So she went out and bought herself this gorgeous wedding gown in the size she wore before she got pregnant (a size 2, after the baby she was about a size 12-14) and started bugging her husband to plan a wedding. He wouldn't and she was extremely bitter about it. She once pulled the gown out to show me and he came home before it was put away and he got kinda upset. We stopped talking a while after that (no hard feelings, we just didn't have anything in common and I got tired of being a taxi for her and any friend she decided to bring along but not tell me about. I told her I couldn't use Justin's car any more and she quit calling me). A few weeks ago I was gathering names and addresses off the internet for this mailing to area realtors and I decided to go house hunting at the same time. So I clicked on the featured home of this one realtor and I recognized it as Jessica's house. I wonder if she's still with her husband. A former co-worker of mine said that she saw them at a restaurant and that they had had another baby. It would be sad if they split.
But no, I'm not like that. I've already bought the invitations. They're the kind that you print yourself. So I think I'll use them as wedding announcements to the people I would have invited. It would have something like "We got married. This is my name. Here's where I live." We've got the rings and I've got my dress (which I really won't need, but might wear anyway). Just the idea of not having to do the big wedding is a huge relief. Because now we can get out of our crappy apartment and into a nice one. That alone will be worth it.
