OK, so I'm becoming a makeup junkie. When I was at the mall with Denise on Saturday (Yeah, we went on Saturday too, whatsittoya) I tried to get Denise a makeover at the Prescriptives counter, but there was no one working there that day. It's becoming a trend. :( Anyway, there was a makeup artist working at the Lancome counter who said he'd worked with Prescriptives in New York so he knew the line. He showed Denise Prescriptives Magic powder (which is the main thing I wanted her to try) and did the rest of the makeover in Lancome. My favorite makeup is still Prescriptives, but I think I may switch to Lancome for color. It was very, very nice. Dior was OK, but I'm not sure it's worth the money. The Dior lipstick is very nice, but the eyecolor I bought makes me look tired. I didn't realize that until I'd worn the Lancome for two days then switched back to Dior. So while Mr. Makeup Artist was working on Denise he noticed that her mascara was flaking off and asked if she was wearing drug store mascara. She wasn't. She was wearing Clinique. He muttered, "I hate Clinique." And it got me to thinking. I've had a couple good experiences with Clinique (I like the exfoliator and the self-tanning lotion), but the vast majority of products I've gotten from Clinique were awful. The eye-shadow was cakey, the mascara not only flaked off, but also gave me enormous eye boogers (gross) and the lipstick was nothing to write home about. But every time I go to the department stores, Clinique is practically mobbed and every other counter is empty. So is my experience (and Denise's and Mr. Makeup Artist's) the odd one? Is Clinique really that good? Or do people just hear the name and think "Top of the line makeup?" Because I'm not so sure that it is.

As a side note to this, the only person who'd experienced Prescriptives magic powder is the makeup artist. The pot of powder ended up making the rounds around the department store with Lancome, Dior, Chanel, and some other vendors oohing and aahing over it. Yes, it's *that* awesome. Denise is still raving about it (she bought a pot of it). Try it! You'll like it!
